年間を通して色々なイベントがあり、中には海外から入ってきたものもいくつかありますが、皆さんはどのイベントが好きですか？

私は1番とは言えないかもしれませんが、ハロウィンが大好きです。

10月に入ると無性にワクワクします。

ハロウィンカラーがとってもかわいいですよね。オレンジ、黒、紫、この3色の組み合わせがたまらなく好きです。

私はハロウィンを仮装をして気分も上げ上げで楽しみたい人ですが、みなさんはどうですか？　笑

ちなみに、私が過去に仮装したことがある人や物は、ゾンビナース（若かりし頃です　笑）、ミニスカポリス（これも若い頃）、ウィッチ（魔女）、いちご、ブラックキャット（黒猫）、シンデレラのフェアリーゴッドマザーです。

ウィッチやブラックキャットには何度もなりきっています。

仮装をしてトリック・オア・トリートをするのももちろん楽しいですが、お家を手作りのもので飾り付けしたり、普段だったら食べたくないような色の食べ物を作って食べたり、ハロウィンは子供たちにとってもかなり楽しいイベントではないかなと思います。

そこで今回は、私がお家でよくハロウィンにすることをご紹介したいと思います。

その前に、ハロウィンて何？　なんで仮装するの？　どんなイベントなの？　と思われた方いませんか？

ハロウィンのはじまり

ハロウィンは、もともと古代のケルト民族の儀式の一つだったそうです。秋の収穫を祝うお祭りで、この日には死後の世界とこの世の堺が無くなり、先祖の霊が家族に会いに来てくれる日なのです。

日本で言うお盆みたいですね。

ですが、家族が会いに来て欲しい先祖の霊だけでなく、悪霊や魔女なども一緒にこの世にやって来てしまう日でもあるので、仮装をして人間ではないふりをし、悪霊から身を守っていたのです。

ですので、どちらかと言うと魔女やお化けのような怖いキャラになるのが良いのかもしれませんが、最近では子供たちがプリンセスやプリンス、かわいらしい妖精の姿になっていて、これまた最高にかわいいですよね。

アメリカでは、ハロウィンと言えば子どもが主役のイベントですが、日本では大人が主役のような風習になっています。

毎年ニュースを見ているので、かなりのにぎわいで少しこわい気もしますが、ハロウィンの日に渋谷のセンター街に行ってみたいです。　笑

あの光景を見たくて、海外からの旅行者も来るらしいですから。

日本独特のハロウィン文化ですね。

私がハロウィンに毎年すること

トリック・オア・トリート

ハロウィンと言えば、“Trick or Treat” (トリック・オア・トリート)ですね。

“Trick or Treat” を直訳すると、「いたずらかお菓子か」　ですが、「お菓子をくれないといたずらしちゃうぞ！」と素敵な日本語のフレーズに訳されていて、みなさんもご存じだと思います。

住んでいる地域によって、子どもたちがトリック・オア・トリートを経験しているかどうか分かれると思いますが、私の近所では、毎年子どもたちが集まって色々なお宅にお菓子をもらいに行っています。

私もこれが楽しみで、毎年来てくれた子どもたちをがっかりさせないように、たくさんのお菓子を用意して待っています。

なんせ何人来るかわからないので、大量に買っておきます　笑。

ドラキュラ、プリンセス、魔女、わけの分からないモンスター（笑）、みんな色々な仮装をして来てくれるので、私も時間がある時は、仮装をして待つのが毎回の楽しみです。

「あそこの家のおばあちゃんはみかんをくれたよ！」とみかんを見せてくれた子がいましたが、きっとそのおばあちゃんは突然の子どもたちの訪問で、お菓子が無くて困ったんだろうな（笑）・・・　なんて想像するのも楽しいです。

かざり作り

私が毎年必ず作るすごく簡単な飾り2つをご紹介したいと思います。

一つ目は、チュッパチャプスのクモ。

棒付きの飴のチュッパチャプスに、ちょっと太めの手芸で使う黒色のモールを巻きつけるだけ。目を付けたい人は付けて、目が怖い人はそのままでも十分クモです。

二つ目は、がい骨の手。

薄い使い捨てのビニール手ぶくろの指先に、一つずつ色の濃いグミを入れて、後は手袋全体に白い塩ポップコーンを入れるだけ。

グミは爪です。がい骨に爪なんてあったっけ？　なんて細かいことは言わず作ってみて下さい。

これは、２歳や３歳の小さなお子さんでも作れて、単純な作業ですが案外楽しめます。

たくさん作ってカベや床など色々な場所に飾るとハロウィンの雰囲気まんさいになりますよ。

この二つを作るのに必要な材料は、たったの7つ。

クモ

①チュッパチャプス

②黒いモール（1つ作るのに４本）

③目（お好みで）

ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー

がい骨の手

④ポップコーン（シンプルな塩味）

⑤グミ

⑥透明の薄い使い捨てビニール手袋

⑦ひもか針金

結構簡単に作れるハロウィンデコレーションが色々あるので、みなさんも試しに手作りの飾りを作ってみて下さい。

ブラックカップケーキ

一年を通して我が家ではカップケーキは良く作るお菓子ですが、ハロウィンの時期は、真っ黒のカップケーキを焼いてみませんか？

今回は初めてホットケーキミックスを使ってみました。

私はカップケーキを焼く時に、ホットケーキミックスを使ったことがなかったのですが、お子さんと一緒に簡単に作れますしおすすめです。

ポイントは、ハロウィンなので、真っ黒にすることです！

ブラックココアパウダーが売っているので、それを少し入れるだけで、“真っ黒ハロウィンバージョンカップケーキ” の出来上がりです。

ハロウィンのお菓子を子どもたちと作るときは、完ぺきに作ろうと思わず、子どもたちにもたくさん手伝ってもらって、一緒にデコレーションもしてもらいます。

たとえぐちゃぐちゃになってしまったとしても、それがまたハロウィン感が出て、いい味になると思いませんか？笑

［材料］

・ホットケーキミックス　　150ｇ

・ブラックココアパウダー　  15ｇ

・卵(Lサイズ）　　　　　　  1 個

・生クリーム(無くても可）大さじ1

・牛乳　　　　　　　　　　110ｇ

・バター（溶かす）　　　　  50ｇ　

・砂糖　　　　　　　　　　  50ｇ

・チョコレートチップ　お好みの量　

【作り方】

①　粉類を泡だて器でシャカシャカまぜておく。

②　ボールに卵、牛乳、生クリームを入れて泡だて器でよくまぜる。

③　②に粉類も入れてまぜる。

④　溶かしておいたバターを③に入れてまぜる。

⑤　最後にチョコレートチップを入れてまぜる。

⑥　カップに６分目まで入れて、180度に予熱しておいたオーブンで20分～30分焼く。

作るのに10分、焼くのに20分～30分で、簡単にできます。

その年によって色々と他の物も作りますが、今回ご紹介した物は毎年必ず作ります。

私がハロウィンムードになって色々と行動しだすと、子どもたちも嬉しそうにハロウィンを感じてくれている様子です。

I want to enjoy “Halloween”

Hello.

There are various events throughout the year, and some of them are from overseas. Which event do you like the most?

I may not be able to say the best, but I love Halloween.

I am irresistibly excited when October comes around.

The Halloween colors are very cute, aren’t they?

Orange, black, and purple, I love the combination of these three colors.

In Halloween, I want to dress up in costumes and have a lot of fun, but what about you?

The people and things I’ve dressed up as in the past are Zombie Nurse (when I was young, lol), Miniskirt Police (also when I was young), Witch, Strawberry, Black Cat, and Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother.

I’ve been the Witch and Black Cat many times.

Of course it is fun to dress up and go trick-or-treating, but I think Halloween is also quite a fun event for children, as they decorate their houses with homemade things, make and eat foods in colors they would not normally want to eat.

So this time, I would like to introduce you to some of the things I often do at home for Halloween.

But first, what is Halloween?　Why do we dress up?　What kind of event is it?　I’m sure there are some of you who are wondering.

The Beginning of Halloween

Halloween was originally one of the rituals of the ancient Celtic tribes. It is a festival to celebrate the autumn harvest, and on this day, the border between the afterlife and this world disappears, and the spirits of our ancestors come to visit our families.

It’s like Obon in Japan.

However, not only the ancestral spirits that the family wanted to see, but also evil spirits and witches would come to this world with them. So people dressed up in costumes and pretended to be non-human to protect themselves from evil spirits.

Therefore, it might be better to be a scary character like a witch or a ghost, but recently, children have been dressed up as princesses, princes, and cute fairies, which is also very cute.

In the U.S., Halloween is an event for children, but in Japan, it has become a custom for adults to enjoy themselves as well.

I watch the news about how this event is held every year in Shibuya, Tokyo. And it’s quite lively and a little scary, but I would love to go to Center Street in Shibuya on Halloween someday.　LOL

I’ve heard that tourists from overseas come to see that scene there.

I think this is a unique Halloween culture in Japan.

Things I do every year for Halloween

Trick or Treat

Halloween for kids is all about “Trick or Treat,” right?

In Japan, depending on where you live, your children may or may not have experienced trick-or-treating. In my neighborhood, the children gather every year to go trick-or-treating.

I also look forward to this, and every year I prepare a lot of candy for the kids, so that they will not be disappointed.

I don’t know how many kids will come, so I buy a lot of sweets.

Dracula, princesses, witches, incomprehensible monsters (laughs), everyone comes dressed up in various costumes, so I also were a costume and wait for them when I have time.

One of the children showed me a tangerine and said, “The old lady over there gave me a tangerine!” Since trick-or-treating is not so common in Japan, the old lady must have been troubled by the sudden visit of the children. But she was kind enough to give the children something she had at home.

It made me happy to imagine.

Decorations Making

I would like to introduce two very simple decorations that I always make every year.

The first is “Chupa Chups Spider.”

All you have to do is to wrap a thick black braid around Chupa Chups stick. If you want to add eyes, you can do so, but if you are afraid of eyes, you can leave it as it is.

The second is “Skeleton’s hand.”

Just put dark-colored gumdrops in each fingertip of a thin disposable plastic hand glove, and then fill the entire glove with white salt popcorn.

The gumdrops are fingernails. You may think that skeletons don’t have fingernails. Don’t worry about the details, just try it.

This is a simple task that even a small child of two or three years old can make, and it is more fun than you might think.

If you make a lot of them and decorate various places such as the floor or the walls, you will have a great Halloween atmosphere.

You only need 7 materials to make these two.

There are quite a variety of things you can make easily, so please give it a try and make some handmade decorations.

Black Cupcakes

Cupcakes are a treat that we make often in our house throughout the year, but for Halloween, I want to bake cupcakes that are all black.

This time, I used pancake mix for the first time.

I’ve never used pancake mix to bake cupcakes before, but it’s easy to make with your kids and I recommend it.

Since it’s Halloween, they have to be all black!

You can find black cocoa powder on the market, so just add a little of that and you have “black Halloween version cupcakes.

When I make Halloween sweets with my kids, I don’t try to make them perfect, but rather ask them to help me a lot and decorate them together.

Even if it turns out messy, don’t you think that will give it a nice Halloween flavor? lol

［Ingredients］

・150g pancake mix
・15g　black cocoa powder
・1 egg (large size)
・1 tablespoon heavy cream (not necessary)
・110g milk
・50g Butter (melted)
・chocolate chips as desired

[How to make]　

①Mix eggs, milk and cream in a bowl with a whisk.
②Add the flour mixture to ① and mix well.
③Add the melted butter to ② and mix well.
④Finally, add chocolate chips and mix.
⑤Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes.

It takes only 10 minutes to make and 20 to 30 minutes to bake, so it is easy to make.

Give it a try!

I make a lot of other things depending on the year, but I always make the ones I mentioned here every year.

As I get into the Halloween mood and start doing things, my kids seem to be happy and feel Halloween, too.
